Stenosis and Occlusion of Artery / ABI (Ankle-Brachial index)
ABI (Ankle-Brachial index)
ABI is an index to evaluate stenosis and occlusion of crural arteries. It is calculated from blood pressures at brachials and ankles. Since the numerical value can be obtained noninvasively, ABI is useful for early detection of peripheral arterial disease (PAD). PAD is frequently complicated with cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease, and thus early detection of PAD is important.

Reference Value of ABI
VaSera calculates ABI based o ACC/AHA Guidline 2008
* For the brachial blood pressure, a higher value is used if a difference
between the left and right is 10 mmHg or more and the average of
the left and right is used if the difference is less than 10 mmHg.

Toe-Brachial Index (TBI)

With VaSera TBI can be measured using an optional unit. Since toe arteries often escape from calcification, TBI enables evaluation of occlusion in patients with other arteries calcified considerably.
